*The first thing Zoe did once they pulled into the cargo bay of the ship was to hop off and offer a hand to Inara. She felt this odd sense of worry for the woman that she wasn't used to. She wouldn't have been shocked to have found Kaylee walking in the streets in tears, but Inara? That was dificult for her to understand.
She gave the woman a weak smile, taking in a deep breath. She wasn't going to ask questions, she really doubted that would help. Instead, she'd just offer her a smile. She had this feeling that it would be enough...it'd accompany some sort of silent understanding* Let's head upstairs, Nara

Inara had been silent the entire ride back to Serenity. She'd been lost in her thoughts. And these were not good ones, one being why she even bothered with Mal anymore. That one alone almost brought her back to the brink, so she shoved it as far away from the front of her mind as possible.
As soon as they had stopped, she wrapped her shawl around her body and stood up. She was grateful for Zoe's hand as soon as the other woman had gotten off of the Mule. "Xie xie, Zoe," she said, smiling as she took her hand and got down.
"That sounds like a good idea." She looked at Wash and asked, "Do you need any help unloading the cargo? I can see if Jayne will come down and help."

Wash shook his head and said, "Thanks for the offer, 'Nara, but I know only money would bring Jayne down here, and I don't intend to pay him. That's Mal's job."
"'Sides," he continued. "A large, semi-muscular man such as myself should have no trouble getting all of this unloaded. At this, he picked up a bag of rice and grunted as he lost his balance and fell back forward across the seats.
"Hmm, on second thought, maybe Jayne could stand to earn his keep around here." He got up and said, "If you two go upstairs, see if Simon wants to help as well."

*Zoe watched him for a moment, tempted to step forward and lug the bag up for him. But she figured that would just upset him, so instead, she'd just ask Jayne. Or force him to help. She gave a small smile to Wash before heading up the stairs with Nara.*
