Mikey Cobb, known more formally as Michelle, adjusted her dark blue jacket as she walked down the streets of Persephone. It was a warm day, so she normally wouldn't have needed the jacket. It was mainly to be used for pickpocketing, something the girl excelled at.
Hey, after fifteen years at a certain craft, you had better be good at it. Pickpocketing was one of Mikey's favourite things to do. It was a way to make some extra cash, when she wasn't thieving, and it was a way to sharpen her thieving skills besides.
As she continued walking, she surveyed the crowd, trying to see who would make an easy mark. She tended to target the richer folks, too stupid to realise that they shouldn't be flaunting their wealth all over the place. ''Specially inna place like Persephone,' the girl thought. Granted, Persephone was a Core world, but there was still an element that you had to watch out for.
She walked a few more feet before she spotted a group of three girls. All rich and airheaded. They were wearing the latest fashions and flashing their money all over the place as they bought incense and small plants from street vendors. Mikey shook her head. 'It's almost too easy,' she thought, walking over towards them. She noticed that one of them did look a bit more alert than the other two, so she waited until that girl split from the other two, going into a nearby tea shop to buy something. The other two held their purses at their sides, turning away from the street to look at some pottery on a table.
"It's now or never," she said to herself, taking a cursory glance to make sure there were no Alliance personnel standing around. It was all clear. Mikey picked up her pace a bit as she walked over to the girls. As she was passing by them, quick as a flash, she liberated both of their wallets from the confines of the satin and silk. She placed the wallets in her inside pockets of her jacket and stopped a few feet away from the girls, pretending to peruse over some daggers at a vendor's booth.
Mikey let out a sly grin as she heard the commotion from the girls not even three minutes later. They were practically shrieking when they discovered the theft. Mikey shook her head and walked away, cutting down a side alley, whistling a tune to herself.

*Murray was in luck today. Sometimes it was weeks between cargo ships, and those were the times that were rough, but today not only one had come in, but two. She got to the docks at 6 AM sharp, she knew that the earlier you got there, the better chance you had of getting chosen to unload. It was honest work and it paid well, it just wasn't a guarentee. Lots of the residents of the slums relied on it, but you only needed so many hands.
And she had gotten chosen. Course it helped that they knew she was good at what she did.
She usually was off the docks by noon, but being there were two ships to unload, she wasn't relieved till nearly 5 o clock. She was filthy now, covered in dirt and sweat. She yanked her hair up into a messy ponytail, wiping her brow with the back of her arm as she walked through the streets of Persephone. She ignored the tourists and vendors, instead heading to the little room that she was forced to call a home.*

Mikey walked the length of the alley before coming out onto a side street that she knew well. She lived in this part of town with her friends; Murray and Lex. They shared a small flat in this part of town. Usually, one of them would stay at home until the other two got back and then the one who had stayed home would go out that night and thieve.
'Lex's lucky. He gets t' go out t'night,' she thought, running a hand through her hair. She had made a vertiable killing today with pickpocketing and she knew that Murray had been working at the docks all day and the girl would be very tired. 'Murray works harder 'en both of us,' Mikey thought as she made her way closer to her home.
"Speak of the devil!" Mikey shouted as she ran and caught up to Murray. She saw the dirt stains on her friends arms and hands and grimaced. 'Wish we had a real bath for her,' she thought.
"How hard did you work today?" Mikey asked, putting an arm around her friends shoulder, being careful to not put a lot of weight on the girl's shoulder.

*Murray turned her head when she heard her name called, and smiled lightly. She looked exhausted, but she still managed to greet her friends...her family with the best smile she could muster.
She gave a light shrug, her hands thrusted into her raggy blue jacket* Two ships...that say enough? *But it had been worth it. She earned a 4th more credits then usual, which would atleast get them dinner for a week or two. Possibly three, if they decided to eat protein supplements instead of real food.*
And how was your day, Ms.Cobb? *She turned a corner with her*

"My day was all manner of fine, Ms. Archer," Mikey replied, her eyes glittering with excitement. "I got three wallets from some rich folks within in the last half hour. Not countin' the ones I got earlier in the day." She grinned broadly and added, "We're going to have a right nice dinner tonight, my friend."

*A look of excitement spread across her, she was nearly glowing at the prospect. She glanced towards Mikey, smirking* Could we possibly have...*She whispered*...Carrots? *They weren't all to expensive for most people, but they were usually out of the price range for them.*

Mikey let out an even wider grin. "If you wish," she said. "I've been achin' for some apples and I know Lex's been wantin' grapes for the longest time."
"Hell, we may even be able to get some meat for a change," she added. "But let's see how we're doin' with the finances at the moment."
She stopped to open the door that led to a steel staircase. She and Murray walked up the stairs and then she opened the door to their "flat". In reality, it was three rooms, a common area where Lex slept, a small bathroom and another room where Murray and Mikey slept. The main room was sparsely furnished, a few posters decorated the walls and there was small fridge with a hot plate on top of it. A small table rested against the wall and there was a futon on the floor where Lex spent his nights.
"Lex?" Mikey called, as she and Murray entered the flat. "You home?"

Lex Sutherland strode into the common room, his jeans resting low on his hips, rubbing his hair with a wet towel. The five minute shower he had just finished was refreshing and he was getting ready to go out for a night of theiving.
"Yes, Mikey, I'm here," he answered, grinning at her and Murray as he flopped down onto his futon, hanging the wet towel around his shoulders, resting on his bare chest.
"What' up, loves?" he asked them. "Murr, there's some hot water if you wanna shower."

*Murray's eyes shifted to Lex the moment he walked into the room. She took in a breath, smiling in his direction* Hey
*She nodded her head, glancing to Mikey* I can wait...if you want to take one first.

Mikey shook her head. "Nah, it's fine," she said, taking off her coat and placing it on top of the table. She emptied the pockets with all the wallets she had stolen that day. "It's been a full, rich day. So to speak, but Murray's done more than me today." She looked at her friend and continued. "Enjoy your shower. You deserve it."
She shot a glance at Lex and smiled appreciatively. "I was able to liberate a lot of wallets from their owners today. So, what would you like to eat for dinner tonight?"

*She nodded, making a bee line towards the bathroom. She needed a shower, it always seemed to make even the worst days seem alright. She kicked the door shut behind her, her hands grabbing hold of the bottom of her shirt. She yanked it over her head, tossing it to a heap on the floor, leaving her standing in worn out brown canvas pants, and a navy sports bra.
She glanced at her form in the mirror above the sink, sighing. One hand slipped to touch a bruise that had recently formed, wincing when she did. She had a box shoved into her side while she was walking by. It appeared to be an accident, had knocked her to her feet, but she knew better. Gennings had done it, and he had never cared for her much. She sighed, it wasn't like her body wasn't already a painting of black and blue already.
Her shower was quick. Once she was wet, she shut the water off, standing in the shower as she washed her hair and body. She didn't like wasting the water...espicially when it was hot, it went to quick. She turned it back on, just enough to rinse, then stepped off. A quick shower...smelled like sulfur...but it was a shower, and it was nice. No more then ten minutes later, she emerged from the bathroom, just wearing her sports bra and pants.*

Lex grinned widely when he saw the haul that Mikey had brought in. "There must be at least 100,000 credits in this." He turned to his friend and said, "Mikey, I could kiss you."
In truth, he wouldn't mind doing just that. To either her or to Murray. Both of his friends were stunningly gorgeous and he'd had more than a few thoughts about them in that way.
He saw movement out of the corner of his eye and let out a low whistle when he saw Murray come back into the room. His eyes were immediately drawn to her stomach.
"Where'd the hell you get that bruise?" he asked, a small measure of alarm in his voice.

*She reached into her canvas pockets, moving towards the pile of credits. She yanked out a handful of credits, tossing them onto the pile. She then stepped away, moving to sit on a milk crate.
Her eyes averted to Lex and she blushed slightly* A crate. No big deal *She set her elbows on her knees, watching him*

Mikey turned when she heard the exchange between the two of them. She raised her eyebrows a bit when she noticed the dark bruise decorating Murray's stomach.
She shook her head and placed her hands on the hips of her black jeans. "A crate my ass," she said. "Gennings did that, didn't he?" Mikey had never met the guy in person but from what she had heard from Murray, she knew that she wouldn't want to cross paths with him.
She'd probably end up beating him to a pulp.
She played with the hem of her light green tank top and said, "Where did you two want to eat t'night? We've got the credits for it."

*Murray blushed, looking to the floor* It's no big deal...*Which more or less answered the question, that it had indeed been Gennings. She glanced up after a moment*
Were going to go out? *She smirked almost immediatly. They rarely did that and it was a treat imagining that they would be. She jumped from her milk crate, moving off to the bathroom, swiping her shirt from the floor, yanking it over her head. She brushed it off, then looked to Mikey* A place with carrots
