His hands wrap around the River Tam's eyes from behind. "Guess who.", he calls before stepping back a bit assuming she'll attack him. C.M., was not a particularlly tall man, standing at a little over 65 inches. He wears his black hair quite short and it has peeled back into a widow's peak. His light brown eyes narrow soon after, as his brief playfulness ends. He is for whatever reason wearing a black tuxedo.
"You know, you really shouldn't go back on that ship. Think about it, love. Why do they keep you up there? It isn't for the company. The only one of them half-way civil is your brother and even he has gone against you. The "sleep words" and everything. What's to keep him from using them against you? Doesn't like what you're saying? "Sleep words". Doesn't like what you're wearing? "Sleep words." "Sleep words." "Sleep words." You're a weapon to them, dear; you're not a woman. If it wasn't for your fighting talent they would have left you to be torn apart by Reavers years ago. And what of your brother anyway? Sure, he did come for you when you were all alone in the cold and the darkness but, why did he take so long? Hmm? For all that time you were there and where was he? Trotting about the galaxy for his own personal gain while you sat and rotted."

*River didn't know why she was so upset. She really didn't. It wasn't like Jayne had only been hiding some from her...he had been hiding it from the whole crew.
But she couldn't figure out why she felt like it was more personal then that...like it affected her more then the rest of the crew. The little girl in the back of her head, the one that wanted a Prince charming and a happily ever after, felt that he should have atleast have told her. That if he should have told anyone...it should have been her.
And she couldn't get the girl's image out of her mind...couldn't push it away. She closed her eyes, and there was Mikey Cobb, staring down at her. She though of her...and immediatly felt disgusted. Disgusted and dirty...and used. Her hand moved to her neck, her finger tips brushing where only an hour past Jayne's lips had been gently kissing, and she whimpered slightly.
Her hand flew from her neck, the back of it rubbing at her eyes fiercly. She would not cry over him...she wouldn't.
She nearly squeaked when she felt the pair of hands wrap around her eyes, causing her to immediatly stop in the market. Even though she was upset...a small smile spread across her lips. She whirled around, not to attack, but with a grin, facing him* You!
*Her excitement quickly faded, as she tilted her head at him, crossing her arms. She listened to her words...listened to them all. She flinched, she frowned, she quivered as he used the words to awake old memories. Images of guns pointed at her head by her "friends"....her brother's voice then darkness....handcuffs rubbing her skin raw as she sat on the gratting. Blood dripping from strands of her hair into her eyes, her body shaking as she gripped her axes tighter, recieving frightened looks from the Crew instead of excited cheers.
She glanced to the ground, shifting her weight, her hands moving behind her back, one cupping the other* Simon just didn't understand...it took him time to understand...

"To understand what? The hell you went through? The loneliness? The self destruction? Face it love, he abandoned you. It was only when he needed you, when Mal and the others needed you, that he even bothered coming for you. You are worthless to them, except as a creature. In fact, I'm surprised they don't put you in a cage or feed you apples like you're their favorite horse.
If I were you next time they're about to be slaughtered, I'd go catatonic. Show them that they need you, that they should value your existance. When was the last time your brother said he loved you? or Jayne? When was the last time any one of them thanked you for anything? Sorry to be so dark, love, I should be more pleasent and chipper but, there are somethings that must be said. Not everything is candy and skipping through parks. You of all people should know that."

To understand...understand the messages. He's slower...you forget, he's slower *She whispered, automatically taking up for her big brother, like she always did...like she probably always would.
She rubbed up her arm, her gaze still on the ground, focusing on the dirt that was being tossed into the wind. She did however, snap her head up when he mentioned Jayne, frowning immediatly.* Don't expect Jayne to love...do you? *She raised an eyebrow, huffing slightly* He just wants to experiment...just like the professors...poke the River...see her squirm...moan and gasp for breath...all he wants *But even she knew she was lying...it was her anger that was causing her to talk that way*

"Oh, he has love, dear River. It is just a question of what he loves: power. It is not a love of wealth or social status, no, that is what drives your brother. Jayne's version of power is machismo. He likes big guns, explosions, like a small child does. Your ideas of love with the candlelit dinners or nights only of cuddling, are indeed not his."
He smiles to himself, "-and you avoided my question, love. When was the last time your brother ever uttered those three little words, "I love you", granted those words from him mean something far different than if your gernade-loving beau said them but, they still signal something beyond the girl who tags along with me; the one who is my burden; the one who is my leech."

*She couldn't place it...couldn't remember. When was the last time Simon had said it? Was it their last mission...where River demanded he remember she could handle herself. Did he utter 'I love you' before she wandered off at Mal's side...the chance that she'd never return always present.
No...he hadn't. He hadn't even said goodbye before the mission. The child in her had been devistated....but had forced it to the back of her mind.
She kept her gaze to the ground, not sure what to say, all her wit and her courage seeped from her. Thats how it always worked when he was around* I don't tag along...you came to me....you came this time. I didn't go looking for you...*her words were so quiet it was hardly even a whisper*

"Do you ever need to, meimei? Aren't I always right around the corner?" He put a hand on her shoulder. "Let's just get back to the ship welcome or not, hm? Unless of course you have more errands to run down here. Oh, you have lived up to our agreement right? I help you out, and I remain in the shadows and noone on the ship knows I'm there. We can't be too sure any of them aren't Alliance spies you know, even dear brother. What better way to keep tabs on you then to offer you a safe haven . . ."
C.M. ran his hand through his hair after removing it from the girl's body.
"Remember, mum's the word love, dong ma?", yes, even figments of her imagination still sprinkled their conversations with Chinese.

Right...back to the ship...*She whispered, her hands moving to her stomach. She took hold of the loose fabric of her dress, bunching it between her fingers as she walked, her gaze on the ground. She nodded her head*
Always remember...

He glances to her fiddling with her stomach fabric. His right eyebrow raises up. "You're sure paying mind to your belly, love. Think you're pregnant or something?" He asked in a jovial tone. "On the subject, that would be just another thing for them to take away and there's no reason they'd stop with just killing "Little Jayne", I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped you from ever reproducing, being a failed experiment and all. But, we shouldn't dwell on such things, should we? We should think happy thoughts, be bursting with optimism and shinyness and all that rubbish." When they finally do reach the ship, C.M. waives her off, "I'll catch up. I have some business to attend to . . ."

Can't be pregnant. Basic rituals haven't taken place...physicially impossible *She whispered, then shook her head* Little Jayne is already here...the girl with a boys name. Irony...*She rumbled. She turned her attention back to him once he spoke, just outside of the ship* Alright...*She whispered as she moved up the hold, making her way into the ship* Till later...
