*River had an eventful day so far.During the earlier hours of the day, she spent her time in the engine room with Kaylee. Kaylee laughed...made jokes, saying how the ship talked to her, while River simply kept quiet. She knew Kaylee was using it as a symbol...but...well, sometimes River could have sworn the ship talked to her as well.
Since the Miranda incident, she had begun to get "better" as her brother so annoyingly put it. She had always been fine...it was the voice and the secrets that were the problem. Well...as fine as the next person, in her own eyes.
After that, she spent time in the cockpit, looking over charts. She kept quiet as a mouse, letting Wash concentrate as he flew. He always thought so loudly when he was flying...he was almost deafening. She pretended to ignore him, as best she could, as she panned out new route ideas. They were on there way to Ezra, then once that pay day was finished, it was off to Newhall, as quick as they could possibly get there.
But her stomach had begun speaking to her an hour earlier, and it got to the point where she could no longer ignore. She crept into the kitchen, her steps graceful, barely a sound being made with each step. She smirked as she eyed a fruit bowl. They had rationed it, and she had been saving her share for awhile, and she snatched up an orange with a happy smile, moving to get herself a knife*

Jayne walked into the kitchen and groaned inwardly when he saw River. 'Kuang zhe de.'He had been keeping his distance from her ever since the incident with the Reavers. Although he had to admit that if she hadn't been there, they would've all died.
He saw her reach for the knife and tensed. He hadn't forgotten that time she had slashed him across the chest, saying that he had "looked better in red". Ruined his favourite shirt too.
He sat down at the table and grabbed one of his remaining two oranges from the bowl. He was concentrating so hard, he almost didn't notice her staring at him. "What?" he asked, not looking up from the orange he was peeling.

Think to loud, Jayne. Not goin' to cut you *She rolled her eyes slightly. She snatched up a spoon while she was over that way, then turned, heading over towards the table to sit down. She took her knife, cutting the orange into two halves. She set one aside, and picked up her spoon, slamming it into the fruit, bringing a spoonful up to her mouth.
She leaned back in her chair, and watched him for a moment, unsure excatly what to say* Nothing

Jayne quickly looked down and grinned. Girl had a mouth on her, who'da thought? He knew her brother wouldn't like it. Another thought crossed his mind and he looked up at her.
"Say, uh, you know any other curses?" Jayne knew the girl probably did, but in case she didn't, he wanted to teach her some.
Anything to piss off her brother.

Jayne's eyes widened a bit and his jaw dropped when she said that. He got flustered at that, a small blush creeping into his cheeks.
"OK, maybe that was the wrong one to start with," he said, looking at her in the eyes.

All Jayne could do was blink at the girl. 'Wo de ma...' he though. He was very taken aback at the things she was saying.
"Uhm," he said, standing up, towering over almost the whole room. "I think that's enough lessons for today." In the back of his mind, something told him to say the next words. "We can do this later, ok bao-bei?" He smiled at her and winked, then turned and grabbed his orange, still uneaten and began walking out of the kitchen.

Jayne watched as she left the room for her bunk. 'Girl's not all there.' He went back to the first thought he had about her when he first saw her emerge from the stasis pod in the cargo bay. ''Course, not all of her has to be.'
"May take ya up on that," he muttered, walking back to his own bunk, shutting and locking the door behind him.
