Murray hadn't really explained her reasoning to Mal for wanting to accompany him on this mission. But she had her own reasoning and after the last few weeks, she felt she had proved herself reliable. Or at the very least useful. Most of the time though she opted to stay close to Wash, since her interests were in the ship. More so then the job.
But they were on a core planet. She didn't like that idea. She hadn't told Mal or the crew of her alliance background. Hell, only Mikey truly knew of her history. So she stuck close to Mal and Jayne, not wanting to be in the market with the others. Gathering supplies seemed more likely a job to be noticed then meeting with some underground deal.
She was walking beside Jayne, with her head down, and hood up. Though that in itself wasn't unusual.

"Now, I don't want any distractions like last time. We get in, we get the job, we get out. Ain't got time for no foolin' around," he said to Jayne. He hadn't figured out if he liked this arrangement. He was used to having Zoe at his command. But Murray had been persistent, near begging really, and he had a soft spot for the new crew members. Perhaps it was because he understood their plight.
Though it was more attributed to the fact that they were still innocent in his eyes.

"Don't need to tell me twice," Jayne replied, tugging absently on the collar of his jacket. "Sooner we get things taken care of, sooner we can leave." He was surprised that Zoe hadn't wanted to come with them, but Wash had fallen sick or something, and she'd opted to stay back and see to him. He'd never admit to it, but seeing Zoe care for the little man like that made him glad inside.
He looked down at Murray, who seemed to be shrinking into herself the more they walked and asked, "You alright? Seem nervous about somethin'."

Normally Neil preferred meeting with his clients at his own base of operations, far on the other side of Beaumonde. It gave him a sense of control and made sure he was still in control for the exchange. This was Malcolm Reynolds, however, and for Mal, he would and always did make an exception to the rule.
He stopped at the very edge of the marketplace, keeping an eye out for Mal. Jayne and Zoe would more than likely be with him, as they usually were, and so he kept a lookout for Jayne's hulking mass as well.

"'M fine," she murmured without really looking up. She quite liked Jayne and wouldn't admit it to Mikey, but was tremendously jealous. While Jayne may not have been there for Mikey in her childhood, he was there now, and that was what counted. Murray didn't have that and she couldn't help but feel some semblance of jealousy. She wanted a family just as much. But she was lucky, she reminded herself, because Lex and Mikey were like family.

He cast a glance back at Murray when Jayne asked the question, before looking forward with a slight shake of his head. Kid was lying. "Sooner we leave, sooner we have a pay off, sooner we can get relaxin' on some back end planet," he said this with a smile. He was do for some relaxing. He had all sorts of plans in that regard. Just needed coin first.
"Cas!" He called out with a massive grin, moving forward and away from his two companions. And here he was saying he wanted to get out quick.
"How are you?"

He raised an eyebrow, not sure if he believed her, but let it go for now. She wasn't his daughter, but he was beginning to become quite fond of her. Lex...well, he still had to come around to the kid. Had a mouth on him, that one, and a lot of the time, Jayne itched to smack it.
He looked back up when he heard Mal say Cassity's name, and a small smile of his own broke out on his face. He liked the man quite a bit; he didn't ask unnecessary questions, and kept his nose out of their business as much as possible. "Hey," he said in greeting to Cassity as he and Murray came closer to where Mal and Cassity were.

Cassity looked up and saw Mal advancing towards him, as well as Jayne and a girl he'd never seen before bringing up the rear. "Mal!" he called in greeting. "I'm wonderful. How're you?" He glanced at Jayne and nodded in greeting. "Jayne, nice to see you, too. And," he glanced at the small girl with the dark hair and continued, "it's lovely to see you, my dear, though I believe introductions are in order." He smiled widely at her as he spoke.

Murray's head turned up from underneath of her hood, strands of her now long brown hair sticking out. She took in a lengthy breath from behind Jayne at the gaze of the man, finding words lost upon her.
"Uh..." she began, before she shook her head, forcing words to formulate. The blush she rarely ever had arrived on her cheeks. "My name is Murray." She said with a smile. Her hands came up and she pushed her hood back, grinning.

"I'm splendid," he said with a big ol' grin. Which was the truth. Things were going quite well for him and his boat as of late. "Hmm?" He glanced back to Murray, then to Neil.
"She's a new recruit. She's a little bit of spit fire, fast as hell," he said with a chuckle.
"Heard tell that you needed a bit of help with cargo transport?"

Jayne barked out a laugh at Mal's summary of Murray. "He speaks the truth 'bout that one. She's a blur when she really gets 'vested in somethin'." He shut his mouth then, waiting to hear the specifics of the job at hand. So far, things were going swimmingly.

Neil grinned wider at their description of the girl. "I believe it," he said, turning his attention to her once more. "Murray? I'm Neil. Welcome to the fold."
He looked at Mal and nodded. "I surely do. Some farmer is moving a big mess of crates off-world, I believe it was to Greenleaf. No cows this time, Jayne, so you won't get to smack them," he said, smirking at the story he'd heard forever ago. "He's offering 10,000 credits to get the job done within the week. An extra 5 if you can get it done before the week's up."

Her cheeks flushed at Mal's description of her. "I ain't that bad," she said in a smaller voice. She smiled back to him kindly.

"15,000 credits?" He repeated, letting out a long breath with a smirk on his lips. "That's...that's some hefty money there, Cas." He thought for a moment, glancing back to Murray now.
"You 'pose we can make it to Greenleaf before the weeks out, little lady?" He knew Murray was decent with navigation. He just didn't know how far that talent went. When she gave a subtle nod, he smirked, looking back to Cas.
"Well, there you have it. And if nottin' else we certainly can within the week. Sounds ease enough too. And I am mighty happy that it isn't cows. I'd rather not have a repeat of that, ever, ever again."

Jayne's eyebrows raised high when he heard the amount. "Tsai boo shr," he breathed, imagining what he would do with his share of that money. "Hope we can do it," he said, watching the exchange between Murray and Mal. "Hell, with her, River an' Wash onboard, we'll get there in no time."
