Jayne sat the the kitchen table, his guns and other weapons spread out in front of him. He picked up his favourite, Vera, and, after putting the safety on, began polishing the cold steel, making her gleam.
Once he was done with that, he cleaned the inside of the barrel with a wet rag and more polish. He held it away from him, admiring his work. He cleaned it once more and then looked at it from far away again. The third time, he was satisfied. He kissed the steel and set it down next to him.

You keep rubbin' it like that, people are goin' to think your makin' up for somethin' else *Mal stepped into the dining area, smirking in Jayne's direction*
Were three hours from Ezra, Jayne. No need to get this excited just yet *He moved over to look in the cubbards. Bare, as he figured. He sighed, turning, spotting the fruit bowl. Only two oranges were left and he glanced to Jayne* Albatross? *He motioned to the fruit*

Jayne just looked at Mal and went back to cleaning his weapons. "And if you don't start gettin' sexed by someone soon, people're gonna think you're sly."
He picked up his knife and the grindstone along with it. He spat on the stone and ran the knife over it a few times, sharpening it.
"And it never hurts t' be prepared," he added. "Wherever we go, trouble always seems t' find us."

Thats alot of talk for someone who hasn't touched a woman in monthes. *He kept eyeing one of Rivers oranges. She wouldn't notice, right?*
Yes, it seems that way. Just hopin' it doesn't turn out that way, this time. *He bit hit lip, moving away from the temptation of the fruit*

"Oh for God's sake! Just take my last orange!" Jayne exclaimed, seeing Mal hesitate for the fifth time in front of the bowl. "Gorramit!"
"And I'm just...I'm goin' through a dry spell right now. It don't concern me none."

*He smiled and snatched it up, nodding his head to Jayne* Thank you
Don't got to go through one. Will be on Ezra long enough...find you a girl. Makes you a happier man *He ripped off the peel quickly, then stuffed a peice into his mouth*

Jayne snorted and put the knife down, and picked up one of his handguns. He put the safety on on that one and began cleaning it.
It was true though, he hadn't been with anyone since the Heart of Gold, and the only women there were prostitutes.
He concentrated even harder on cleaning his gun. "I could stand t' be a little happier these days," he said. He looked up at Mal and added, "I'm sure you could be too. What with you and Inara still avoidin' each other like the plague or somethin'."

We don't 'void. It's simply business as usual *He took another bite of the orange, leaning up against the counter.
He knew he was avoiding her. She was on the ship, but stayed mostly in her shuttle, only coming to him when she needed to plan dates with clients. He gruffed at the thought, then looked to Jayne*
Doubt you'll need Vera, Jayne. The pistol should do it *He motioned to one on the table*

Jayne bit his lip when Mal said it was just "business as usual". 'The hell it is,' he thought.
"I take Vera with me all the time. Like I said, never hurts t'be prepared. What if I need her and don't have her." He picked up his favourite gun and wiped off the scope. "'Sides, she brings me luck. An' in this business, I need all the luck I can get."

Don't believe in luck. *He shut his eyes for a moment* Well...albatross will be comin' with, so behave when were out. Don't need no fuse between you two *He took in a breath* Understood?

Jayne growled softly but nodded in agreement. "Long as the moonbrain don't knife or shoot me we got an agreement."
Jayne didn't particularly mind River coming with them. She was a lot better now than she had been in the previous months and didn't act so feng le anymore. He was at a point where he almost 'liked' her. 'Liked'? Had he meant it like that?
"When we headin' out?" he asked, looking up at the captain, still trying to figure the 'like' thing out.

I highly doubt she'll come at you with a knife. Can't guarentee but I doubt it *He smirked, moving off towards the hall*
Wash says will be there in an hour or so. Just be ready *He waved at Jayne then disappered into the hall*

Jayne nodded as Mal walked off. "Will do," he called after him. He looked around the table to see if there were any weapons he was forgetting to clean.
'Stop it,' he told himself in his mind. 'Stop thinkin' 'bout it.'

About what? *Her voice spoke quietly. She was standing by the other entrance, her head half in the room, a wicked grin on her face...like she already knew the answer.
She stepped in quietly, gracefully, her dress barely reaching her knees. She had her arms behind her back, and on hand holding her elbow, as she watched him*

Jayne's eyes widened slightly as he saw what she was wearing; short slinky dress, combat boots and had her hair loose and about her shoulders, reaching just past her chest in the front.
"Nothin'," he muttered, watching her as she moved silently into the room. "An' di'n' I tell you not t' read my mind?" He couldn't seem to take his eyes off of her, no matter how hard he tried.
